I am also a certified parenting educator. My certificates are in Reflective Parenting, RCB (Redirecting Children’s Behavior), and child-centered play therapy.
What is Reflective Parenting?
Reflective Parenting is an innovative workshop providing parents with a model, which we call reflective parenting that views children's behaviors as meaningful communications that need to be understood. The Reflective Parenting groups help parents explore their children's thoughts, feelings and motivations as well as their own. This process helps parents understand and respond to their children's behaviors in appropriate and sensitive ways. Both research and parent feedback has demonstrated that this model is an effective way to help parents build stronger and more positive relationships with their children.
What is Redirecting Children’s Behaviors?
RCB is a set of parenting skills. The course Redirecting Children's Behavior gives parents fast, effective ways to become calmer and more confident and to raise their children to be responsible and cooperative. Parents are given easy-to-learn positive parenting techniques that allow them to redirect their children's behavior through loving guidance rather than ineffective punishment. Parents will learn tips on using logical consequences, setting limits, and achieving peaceful resolution of conflicts.
What is play therapy?
Play therapy is a technique whereby the child's natural means of expression, namely play, is used as a therapeutic method to assist him/her in coping with emotional stress or trauma. It has been used effectively with children who are; distraught due to family problems (e.g., parental divorce, sibling rivalry), nail biters, bed wetters, aggressive or cruel, social underdeveloped, or victims of child abuse. |
